Maritime

Biography

Maritime formed in 2003 out of the ashes of The Promise Ring and The Dismemberment Plan. After these two bands broke up, singer/guitarist Davey von Bohlen, drummer Dan Didier (of The Promise Ring) and bassist Eric Axelson (of The Dismemberment Plan) hooked up and started a band called In English. In 2006, Eric left the band (now called Maritime) and was replaced by bassist Justin Klug. Guitarist Dan Hinz joined the group.

Of their sound, SPIN magazine wrote “Maritime makes you wish your life were a Zach Braff movie, just so you could put their songs on the soundtrack. Their sweet, poppy earworms belie their rabunctious live show, where Dan Didier and Davey von Bohlen (formerly of the Promise Ring) inspire copious handclaps and sing-alongs.”
