Biography

Steve Dawson was born in San Diego, raised in Hailey, Idaho, and now lives in Chicago. His songs are influenced by all 3 places – the California pop of the early 70’s, the country music on the radio in Idaho, and the blues and R&B of Chicago. Dawson is perhaps better known as the front man and co-leader of the critically-acclaimed Chicago band Dolly Varden. Dawson’s first solo album, ‘Sweet Is The Anchor’, was released in 2005, while Dolly Varden was on a hiatus. Critics noted Dawson’s strength as both a songwriter and singer, combining elements of country, soul and pop. His brand new solo album, “I Will Miss The Trumpets And The Drums” (Undertow), will be available for digital download (itunes, Amazon, etc) on February 23, 2010. CD’s are available now exclusively from the Undertow store: www.undertowstore.com.

  • Tickets now on sale for Steve’s May 16 CD release concert at Chicago’s Old Town School of Folk Music (www.oldtownschool.org).
