A Protest Playlist

As the headlines flood in, filled with violence, hate and loss there is a glint that change is afoot...

People are taking to the streets together to take one giant step for humanity: to protest for human rights and justice. Their voices, actions and presence echo the rallying cry that started long ago.

The tradition of protest music in America dates back to the 18th Century and continues to be the universal language that transcends today. Throughout centuries, wars and generations, brave souls have been protesting through music.

As a baby boomer, I grew up on protest music of the 60s & 70s. In 2014, I wrote an article for the New York Times highlighting some of the most influential artists using their voices for change. This week's playlist is a diverse collection of artists & generations with something to say.
